Celebrate with these St. Patrick’s Day Activities

Each month, I make sure to plan something fun for the kids whether it’s a “Snow Day” in January or a “First Day of Summer Party” in June. So this March, check out our ideas for making St. Patrick’s Day a fun tradition in your family!

7 St. Patrick’s Day Ideas

1. LOOK FOR 4 LEAF CLOVERS

This is a great one to do at the park! Take your little guys outside and then pretend you’re leprechauns looking for 4 leaf clovers. It’s rare but it happens!

2. EAT AN ALL-GREEN MEAL

This one might inspire your picky eaters when you round up as many different green foods as you can and vote on your favorites. For example:

  • Broccoli
  • Zucchini
  • Celery
  • Salad
  • Grapes
  • Kiwi
  • Cucumber
  • Avocado
  • Keylime Pie
  • Apples
  • Jello

3. WEAR LOTS OF GREEN

Don’t forget to wear something green! In order to make it a fun game, tell the kids they have 5 minutes to put on as many green clothing items as they can find. The winner gets a prize!

4. MAKE A RAINBOW CRAFT

There are tons of St. Patrick’s Day art activities on Pinterest you can check out here. Even more ideas are stringing Fruit Loops to make a necklace, making a rainbow out of Play-Doh, or painting a rainbow picture and adding cotton balls for clouds.

5. SET A LEPRECHAUN TRAP

These are fun to create with a shoebox and set out the night before St. Patrick’s Day. One year, I even trashed the bathroom with toilet paper and then put green food coloring in the toilet to pretend a leprechaun had stopped by. I also left chocolate coins in their leprechaun traps!

6. GO ON A TREASURE HUNT

I loved making treasure hunts when I was a child. Hide the clues and then put them in order around the house. A great prize would be gold coins or a St. Patrick-themed goodie!

7. LISTEN TO IRISH SONGS

Every party’s more fun with a good soundtrack! Make sure to blast some Irish tunes. For example, here’s a playlist I found on Spotify: Irish Songs
