A Bible Prophecy About the Messiah

The Old Testament is filled with prophecies about a time when a Messiah would come and rescue the Israelites. The prophets spoke of his rule over the entire world–an end to evil through judgment. They told of his birth in Bethlehem and that he would descend from the line of David.

You can see these Messianic Prophecies all throughout the Bible leading up to the New Testament.

Zechariah prophesied about Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9), and then being sold for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12-13).

Malachi wrote about a coming messenger (John the Baptist), later followed by the messenger of the covenant (Jesus, the Messiah) in Malachi 3:1.

But the prophet Isaiah had the most extensive insight into what was to come.

The Season of Advent

This month, many people around the world are celebrating something called Advent. Advent is the celebration and anticipation of Jesus’ birth, so many Christians study, fast, and pray during these four weeks. This month, I’ll have you write one scripture a day from December 1st through the 25th.

I want us to dig into the prophecies of Isaiah, and their fulfillment in the New Testament. The left column of the study is Isaiah’s prophecy, and the right column covers when it was fulfilled.
