Continuing to date even as a married couple is a wonderful way to reconnect with one another. So check out this list of date night ideas for married couples!

MONTHLY DATE NIGHT AS A MARRIED COUPLE
My husband and I have been married for 16 years so one thing I’ve learned is that Date Night is a MUST to help us reconnect. Life gets busy and then you get into your routine. When stress kicks in, you start to feel disconnected from your spouse.
Make date nights mandatory in your household–once a month is a good starting place!

NO SITTER?
- Since some places offer Parents’ Night Out, you can search online for programs at kid gyms, YMCA, rec centers, and local churches.
- We swap with another couple and watch their kid while they go on dates! (It’s also a great way to get a responsible, free babysitter!)
- I discovered a few awesome sitters through Care.com, which allows you to run a background check and I always test run a few times while I’m home.

AT-HOME DATE NIGHT IDEAS FOR MARRIED COUPLES
1. MOVIES
Equally, we are big movie buffs. One thing that we enjoy is watching movies altogether in a series. It gives us something to look forward to at night and talk about during the day if we haven’t seen the series yet. One-offs are good, but a series allows you to make connections between films.
- Indiana Jones
- Back to the Future
- Lord of the Rings
- Jaws
- Jurassic Park
- Bourne Identity
- Star Wars
2. GAMES
Whether you go out or stay in, there’s something calming about disconnecting from screens and pulling out an old-fashioned board game. We also enjoy teaching each other card games we grew up on or remembering the rules to classics like Double Six Dominoes.
- Scrabble
- Trivial Pursuit
- Monopoly
- Clue
- Risk
- Rummikub
- Puzzle
3. CONCERTS
Grab a bottle of wine, and a movie projector and then watch your favorite band “live” on the big screen for an unforgettable date night!
4. VIDEO GAMES
My generation was the first to grow up playing video games as kids, so sometimes our kids are impressed when we know how to get first place on Mario Kart without their help. Here are some classics we love to play when the kids are in bed.
5. TV GAME SHOWS
Additionally, I started showing my kids TV game shows I grew up on. For example: Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, and Double Dare (which can be found on YouTube. If you have Amazon Prime, then there are tons of full-episode game shows you can watch online:

I’m so glad to see other couples that see the importance of a date night with their spouse! For us, they are a must.
Yes they keep parenting in perspective and allow us to reconnect!
Lots of fun ideas! Now that my kids are all old enough to stay home alone date nights are getting so much easier and much more frequent too (or at least they were pre-pandemic). Thanks for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.
Thanks friend! Hope you’re doing well!
