Have some fun connecting and being silly this fall with these party activities for families!

Connect as a Family This Fall
Some of my most clear memories as a kid are our family parties. We didn’t have to invite the whole town, we just had a mom who wanted to make the holidays special. Whether it was celebrating the last day of school with a trip to Chuck-E-Cheese or kicking off October with Charlie Brown and hot apple cider, it didn’t matter.
Now as parents ourselves, both me and my siblings look for any excuse to give our kids a special family party (like drinking green Sprite and eating chocolate coins on St. Patrick’s Day!).
Here are a few ways to celebrate the fall season with a special family party!

Plan a Family Fall Party Night!
No matter how old you are, you’re never too old to have fun! Make the fall season a night to connect with your family and just enjoy being silly with one another. Here are seven ideas to get you started:
1. Decorate Using a Color Theme
Keep it simple—choose an orange/black/white color scheme for a cozy feel or black/purple/green for spooky vibes. Buy holiday paper plates and cups and then add a few orange twinkle lights around the room. Additionally, decorate with pumpkins, fall critters, and spider webs.
2. Make Silly Treats
Set dry ice in a punch bowl, freeze spider rings in ice cubes and make candy corn teeth. Get creative!
3. Put On a Playlist
There are tons of fall music playlists on Spotify, Apple and Pandora to have on in the background during your party. Try a family-friendly playlist or stick with autumn jazz!

4. Dress in Costumes
Coordinate as a family or come up with your own ideas. Don’t forget face paint and temporary hair dye!
5. Play Party Games
We like to play Clue together and they even make a Junior Version! Bonus points for using accents!
6. Go on a Glow Stick Candy Hunt
Tape glow sticks to candy bars or hide them in glowing Easter eggs to create a nighttime candy hunt. You could even make a treasure hunt using clues to find candy around the house. Whether you stay in or go out, don’t miss out on the candy!
7. Wrap Up With a Fall Movie
Watch a family-friendly movie that will get you into the fall season such as Harry Potter or It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. If it’s cold enough, light up the fireplace or project it on a screen outside!

These are great ideas! We still have no idea what we’re doing this year. A lot of people in our neighborhood are elderly so I doubt they’ll participate in trick-or-treating this year.
