We all have a place that is precious to us. A house you grew up in, a favorite family vacation, a honeymoon trip, a college town, the place where you met your spouse.

My husband got an invitation to his 15th year college reunion last week. 15 years. Since college graduation. Yikes. The thing is, we still talk about all those memories as if they were yesterday because those years in Abilene, Texas are such an integral part of our story.

I’m not exactly missing the Ramen noodle dinners or the smelly thrift store shopping, but I do miss the late night study sessions and the spontaneous Saturday morning outings. I love remembering the Thursday night Art Walk events and the Erinshire Folk Festival at a house that looked like it was straight out of The Hobbit.

I don’t ever want to forgot those things that first brought us together and continue to pull us back into our own little secret world when life gets tricky.

Do you have a place you reminisce about? What made that time in your life so special? Was it where you raised your kids? Was it where you started a new chapter in your life?

Don’t let those moments go to waste. Get out old pictures and snuggle up with your kids and tell them all about one of your favorite places in the world. Find a way to set out some reminder of that time to lift your spirits during the monotony of your day.

Here’s to reliving the glory days!

  1. I think I’d choose No. Richland Hills because I spent almost 20 years in that area. It really helped shaped me into who I am today and gave me relationships I’ll have for years to come. Cool giveaway!

  2. Rockport, TX… that’s where my husband and I met and got married!!! We go back every summer!

  3. I would love to have Ft. Worth because this is the city where my husband and I met and went on numerous dates before and after we married! I would also have to put NYC because this is the city he proposed to me and will always have a special place in my heart when we were there and got engaged! So fun!!
